Apply For A Wig
Step 1: Application
Complete the application form, linked on this page.
The form will ask for information, such as:
Your name, contact details, age, medical condition (if applicable) and a brief description of your hair loss situation. We will also ask for the quote you have received for the piece you are seeking assistance purchasing and if you are entitled to the treatment benefit scheme/HSE grant.
If you are a first time applicant we will ask for letter from your healthcare provider, confirming your condition. You forward this via email at a later point
Step 2: Assessment & Review
The Rapunzel Foundation will review your application and your eligibility.
Its in our applicants best interests to give us as much information about their situation as possible, as this allows us to provide fair consideration to each individual.
We review applications every 8 weeks so it can take up to 8 weeks to get your funding decision
Step 3: Notification
Once a decision has been made regarding your application, we will notify you of the outcome.
If your application is successful, your email will let you know the funding total we can provide to you.
If you applied for a Freedom Wig we will inform their representative of the amount we are covering and they will contact you to arrange a consultation and fitting.
If you applied for another brand, you go to any wig supplier of your choosing.
Step 4: Collecting Your Piece
If you applied for a Freedom Wig, their representative (Anne) will be in touch with you to arrange consultation and fittings, as its a bespoke piece there are a few meetings required and the process takes an average of 6 months to receive your wig.
If you applied for another brand, go to a wig supplier of your choosing and pick your piece.
Ask them to email us a bill directly for our portion of the cost at info@rapunzelfoundation.ie, they must include their bank details on the invoice or email (Most wig suppliers will be familiar with our process)
We will pay the bill via bank transfer within 7 working days and then you can collect your piece.
EG: We have approved €700 funding for you, you pick a wig costing €1,400. The wig supplier will email us a bill for €700 towards the piece.
If you are entitled to the Treatment Benefit Scheme/ HSE grant please ensure you go to a wig supplier registered with them so that you can claim your grant also
Step 5: Further Application
Once you receive funding we cannot consider another application for a minimum of 1 year and if you have received funding for a Freedom Wig this increase to a minimum of 2-3 years depending if the applicant is a child or adult.
