Apply For Funding

Step 1: Application

Begin by completing the application form linked on this page.

– The form will ask for the following information:
– Your name and contact details
– Age
– Medical condition (if applicable)
– A brief description of your hair loss situation
– A quote for the hair piece you are seeking assistance with
– Confirmation of whether you are entitled to the treatment Benefit Scheme / HSE grant

If you are a first-time applicant, we will also require a letter from your healthcare provider confirming your condition. This can be forwarded to us by email at a later stage once your application has been submitted.

Step 2: Assessment & Review

We strongly encourage applicants to provide as much detail as possible about their situation, as this helps us ensure fair and thoughtful consideration for every individual. The funding that we grant is dependant on the funding and ponytails we have received and how many applicants we have

Applications are reviewed every eight weeks so it may take up to this time for you to hear from us

Step 3: Notification

Once a decision has been made, you will be notified by email and then you either go to the Freedom Wig representative to start your fitting process or if you have asked for partial funding you can go to a supplier of your choosing. The supplier then bills us for our portion of the cost and we pay them directly.

Example:
If €700 funding has been approved and you select a wig costing €1,400, the supplier will invoice us for €700, with the remaining balance paid by you.
If you are entitled to the Treatment Benefit Scheme / HSE grant, please ensure your chosen wig supplier is registered with the scheme so that you can also claim your grant.

Step 4: Collecting Your Piece

If you applied for a Freedom Wig, their representative (Anne) will be in touch with you to arrange consultation and fittings, as its a bespoke piece there are a few meetings required and the process takes an average of 6 months to receive your wig.

If you applied for another brand, go to a wig supplier of your choosing and pick your piece.

Ask them to email us a bill directly for our portion of the cost at info@rapunzelfoundation.ie, they must include their bank details on the invoice or email (Most wig suppliers will be familiar with our process)

We will pay the bill via bank transfer within 7 working days and then you can collect your piece.

EG: We have approved €700 funding for you, you pick a wig costing €1,400. The wig supplier will email us a bill for €700 towards the piece.

If you are entitled to the Treatment Benefit Scheme/ HSE grant please ensure you go to a wig supplier registered with them so that you can claim your grant also

Step 5: Further Application

Once funding has been received, we are unable to consider a new application for a minimum of one year.

If funding was provided for a Freedom Wig, this period
increases to two to three years, depending on whether the applicant is a child or an adult.
